Professor Darko Zibar (Technical University of Denmark, DTU), receives the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel International Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
As visiting scientist at the LHFT, Prof. Zibar plans to work together with his nominator Prof. Bernhard Schmauss and the LHFT photonics group on quantum-noise limited sensing using already installed fibre infrastructure.
The collaboration between the two scientists and their research groups has been started after Prof. Zibar was awarded the Young Researcher Award of the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT) in 2016 and now has the chance to enter in a new scientific field.
Winners of the Bessel Award receive €45,000 and are invited to spend a period of up to one year collaborating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany.
The official award ceremony will take place in Bamberg, Germany 13 – 16 October 2022.
